This round isn’t just a whisker-splitter because it’s armed with a long, heavy bullet. The Extremely Low Drag Match projectile’s Heat Shield polymer tip will not warp while it’s heated by air friction. Its highly concentric AMP jacket will not upset the bullet’s stability in flight, either. These features flow together to give the 75 grain ELD Match a 0.476 G1 ballistic coefficient, which secures supersonic velocity until about 1,300 yards* – remarkable for a .22 cal bullet!
This is a long-distance target shooter’s cartridge, but plenty of folks will use it for varmint hunting. The ELD Match doesn’t deliver fragmenting terminal ballistics like the ELD-VT or V-MAX, but it sure can reach 300 yards with over 1,000 ft lbs of kinetic energy. As far as any prairie dog’s concerned, that’s the equivalent of getting nuked.
